You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves...
Whoever you are,
no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese,
harsh and exciting
-over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.
-Mary Oliver, The Wild Geese
I offer a collaborative and confidential relationship based on acceptance, empathy, curiosity, respect, and mutual commitment. I meet my clients in a process of looking deeply into themselves with skillful and empathic understanding, without judgment.
As is the nature of depth-work, we aren't skimming the surface for behavioral change. We are holding space for the materials of your psyche to truly transform. In order to accomplish this, I meet with my psychotherapy clients one to two times a week at a regular time, long-term.
My office is located in rural Sebastopol, ten minutes south of downtown. I see clients in-person, as well as through video conferencing throughout California.
My fees are commensurate with clinicians with similar training and experience in the Bay Area. My cancelation policy is 48 hours (business days).
I do not bill insurance directly. I am considered a licensed 'out-of-network' provider, which means that you pay me directly and may be eligible for reimbursement for all or a percentage of my fees from your insurance provider. All reimbursement is between you and your insurance company. Many of my clients also use health savings (HSA of FSA) accounts to cover the cost our work.
I am happy to provide you with receipts upon request for these purposes. We may talk in detail about how to navigate this process in a way that supports you.
Good Faith Estimates Notice to Current & Prospective Clients:
Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, or how to dispute a bill, see your Estimate, or visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
I recently listened to a podcast that opened with the speaker, a Jungian analyst, sharing that often new clients will ask, "How long will this take?", to which the analyst replied, "Hopefully, the rest of your life; only you won't do it all with me". I loved this honesty and reframing of the work as an opportunity for lifelong participation.
While I can say that I don't do short-term, solution-focused work, deciding how much of your journey will be with me is something we assess together over time.
Please download the relevant client contract forms below and return them to me prior to your initial appointment. Thank you.
